  1. I wanted to play with the concept of "the home is where the heart is".

Through out our study of Katakana we've seen how it is used to add a certain amount of glamour and flash because of its ties with the modern world, but in my poem I wanted to exploit Katakana's inherent foreignness to show how things could become foreign in a sad way.

I used Katakana for the first part of the poem to represent the sound of the heart beating, an onomatopoeia. In the next parts of the poem I equate hiragana words for the "sound of the heart" as well as "home" with their katakana counterparts to show how these comforting concepts lose their familiarity when one is alone.

  3. すごいですね!
This is provokes a lot of emotion and is very sad. This literary work is awesome and the katakana use adds to the depth of emotions. I love the last line "うちはハイムです." I'm assuming "ハイム" is referring to the German word heim? If so, great way incorporating other languages other than English! :D

  4. I liked the way you use Katakana to show the sound effect of the heart beat. The katakana does evoke a sense of sadness.
